Soy Candle: The Perfect Teacher Appreciation Gift

Posted on October 11, 2013 by 17 | 0 Comments

As hard as this is to believe, we are coming up on those Fall breaks in school. Holidays are nearing quicker than we can blink an eye which means, on top of everything else, we have to start thinking about how to show our teachers how much we appreciate them pouring into our kids on a daily basis.

With all the food to start stocking up for, the cleaning for family to either come to town or the preparing for you leaving town to go visit family, before you know it you find yourself going, "Oh no! We need a gift for your teacher." Insert this scene: running last minute into the Hallmark store or trying to bake some goodies (as if you're not baking enough already) that you throw in a cute gift bag, tie a bow, and call it good. There is no shame in this, we all do and have done this, and it's not that it isn't special. However, what if we did something a little bit more unique this year? What if ahead of time we had the perfect gift all set aside for our special teachers? No extra baking involoved, no last minute running around town, just a simple click online, shipped to you in beautiful packaging, and voila! Teacher Appreciation gift? Check!

You probably already know what I'm talking about...one of our Precious Gem Soy Luxury Candles. Come to think of it, it would be like two gifts in one! A wonderfully scented soy candle, and then a surprise gem hidden inside. Monogram the candle for free to put an extra personal touch on it, and if you really want to go all out, check out our glass lockets to add to your gift. I bet you double to nothing when you come back from fall break your child's teacher has her beautiful gem displayed in the locket and is wearing it proudly around her neck. How special would that be to know you touched her heart and made her feel appreciated.

Teachers are gems. They sacrifice so much day in and day out for our kids and they probably don't get enough thanks for it. If you were wondering what you could do for your childs's teacher this year, why not a soy candle? Let's show them we see their sacrifice and bless them immensely this year. They deserve it!

Precious Gem Monogram Candles

Posted on September 30, 2013 by 17 | 0 Comments

Hello Monday and hello precious friends!

We recently added something here at Precious Gem Candles that is very exciting. Now, when you go to our shop page and click on the soy candle of your choice, you have the option to monogram your own candle. You choose the initial you want (which will be all uppercase and in a beautiful, easy to read font) and we have it etched into your glass, soy candle jar. It adds a really pretty, detailed look to your jar as it burns in your home or office. We also added this feature to enhance your gift giving experience. If you are purchasing a Precious Gem luxury soy candle as a gift for a friend, spouse, or family member, this is such a great addition to add to the gift that personalizes it and makes them feel that much more special.

When you personalize your soy candle or someone's you care about, it portrays a deeper sense of belonging and love that really touches the heart, and that is the experience we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to draw from. Give us your feedback and let us know how you like this new addition to your Precious Gem Candle!

*We also recently added a mission statement to our page that gives you a deeper look into our heart behind and in what we do and why we do it. If you haven't had the opportunity to read that, I highly encourage you to take two minutes and look it over. You can see it HERE.

What to do with Your Gemstones

Posted on September 04, 2013 by 2 | 0 Comments

A precious gem candle may be an excellent gift idea or a special treat for yourself. Gemstones are fun and fascinating – after you’ve enjoyed the luxurious scents of your soy candle, and retrieved your precious gem, plenty of options remain for continuing to enjoy your gemstone. If you have several stones, here are some ideas for what you can do with them:

Display them. You can simply display your precious gems. Keep them in a glass locket you can get from Precious Gem Candles. The glass locket is hypoallergenic stainless steel with a glass face that flips open and closed. The locket can also be attached to a chain. You can also keep your gems in an attractive jewelry box or case that will keep them both protected and accessible.

Make gemstone-collecting a hobby – If you or someone you know are interested in gemstone collecting, that makes a precious gem candle all the more exciting. To begin, you may want to consider a gem collector’s guide. As a gift for a potential collector, a guide can accompany your luxury soy candle gift.

Make jewelry – if you are not a jewelry hobbyist, then the idea of making your own jewelry with your gemstones may be a little beyond you. But there are tons of jewelry castings that are made to snap pre-shaped gems into place. Custom jewelers are also a great resource, and most would be happy to fashion your gem into a work of art fit for wearing.

Precious gem candles come in great aromatic scents and are made with soy, a better alternative for the environment than the standard paraffin wax. We also have massage candles that also come with hidden gems. Check out the different scents we have available – there is something for everyone!

Birth Stones!

Posted on August 14, 2013 by 2 | 0 Comments

Precious gem candles are precious gifts! They combine the gift of aromatic scent, with the traditional sensuality of firelight, the environmental-friendliness of soy with the delightful surprise and wonderment of finding a gemstone. Each precious gem candle comes with a special hidden gemstone that can range in value. The gemstones you might find could be birthstones, which are a huge attraction in the jewelry industry. Birth stones are a fun way to make color choices or to take gemstone jewelry to a more meaningful level. Whatever gemstone you get in your luxury soy candle, you may be wondering whether or not it is a birthstone.

It could be! Birthstones have an interesting history. They have their origins in the Biblical breastplate of Aaron, which had 12 gemstones embedded in it, each representing one of the 12 Tribes of Israel. The original 12 gemstones were sardius, topaz, carbuncle, emerald, sapphire, diamond, ligure, agate, amethyst, beryl, onyx, and jasper. Then it is said that in the early centuries AD, the 12 stones were assigned to the 12 signs of the zodiac. Not all of the Aaron breastplate gemstones are birthstones. Of those, only five have remained on the birthstone list, which was actually established by the National Association of Jewelers (Jewelers of America) in 1912.

If your next precious gem candle has a birthstone – here’s a quicklist to help you identify it by month!

  • January – Garnet
  • February – Amethyst
  • March – Aquamarine
  • April – Diamond
  • May – Emerald
  • June – Pearl/Alexandrite
  • July – Ruby
  • August – Peridot
  • September – Sapphire
  • October – Tourmaline/Opal
  • November – Topaz/Citrine
  • December – Tanzanite/Zircon/Turqouise

National Creamsicle Day!

Posted on August 12, 2013 by Maria Harbert | 0 Comments

I cannot believe that it is already two weeks into August. This summer came and is quickly approaching an end. I hope that all of you have enjoyed your summer to it's fullest since time just seems to fly. If you live somewhere like me (Texas), water just doesn't always cut the high temps of 105º and a humidity percentage that closely matches that. I'm always looking for something refreshing and cold to enjoy. Creamsicles and popsicles are among the top favorites for a lot of people. Well, guess what? August 14th is National Creamsicle Day! (as if we needed another reason to go to our freezer and pull one out, this is a good excuse.) Below are some amazing recipes that I thought would be fun to post in celebration of this day. Not only that, but here at Precious Gem Candles, we sell an amazing smelling Orange Creme´ candle. Pick one up now and enjoy the delectable aroma while we still have some summer left.

Now I know your mouth is watering over the idea of a few great dreamsicle recipes, so here they are below. Enjoy!

This recipe is from a mommy blogger we found and, oh boy, does it sound delicious! Here are the ingredients you will need:

Orange Dreamsicle Poke Cake

1 box Pillsbury Orangsicle Cake Mix

1 small box instant vanilla pudding

2 Tbsp Sour cream

Next recipe we have on the list was found on another blog as well at wineandglue.com. It's an Orange Dreamsicle Martini...yummm

Orange Dreamsicle Martini

  • 2 Oranges (plus additional slices for garnishing)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • UV Cake Vodka
  • Fat Free Half and Half
  1. Pour 1 cup of sugar in a medium sauce pan.  Zest one orange over the sugar.
  2. Juice the orange you just zested and an another into a one cup measure.  Fill it the rest of the way up with water, so you have one cup of liquid total.  Add it to the sauce pan with the zest and sugar.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring consistently so the sugar does not burn.  Once the the sugar has completely dissolved into the liquid, strain the mixture to get out the zest.  Place the Orange Simple Syrup in the refrigerator to cool completely.
  4. To make the martini, mix 1 1/2 parts UV Cake Vodka1 part Orange Simple Syrup, and 3/4 parts Fat Free Half and Half with ice and strain into a martini glass.  Garnish with an orange slice

Orange Dreamsicle Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 teaspoons orange zest (divided)

And for all my health nuts out there, this is from a website called kimkins.com. They are an online weight loss program, and this shake looked too delicious not to post. This recipe was submitted by one of their members.

Dreamsicle Protein Shake

1 scoop protein (You can use any protein you like. I recommend brown rice protein like Garden of Life Raw Vanilla protein--it's one of the best because it doesn't have unnecessary additives. Here's the link to read more about it http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products-for-Life/Foundational-Nutrition/RAW-Protein.aspx)
4 tablespoons frozen Cool Whip
12 oz can Sierra Mist
1 tube Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange
5 ice cubes (more if needed)

You will need a blender.  Start by adding the can of Sierra Mist first. You can add all other ingredients on top of this and it prevents the dry ingredients from sticking to the sides of the blender.  Blend on HIGH until smooth and drink!

Common Ideas for Using Your Precious Gem Candles

Posted on July 10, 2013 by 2 | 0 Comments

Candles are versatile. Your precious gem candles can be used in many of the ways traditional candles are used. Here are a few ideas:

  • Home décor: your candles can be used to accentuate the decorations in any of your rooms: on a centerpiece table, your side tables, or dining table. They can be used to decorate surfaces along with flower vases and other table accents. They can also simply be placed in decorative candleholders.
  • Special occasions: Use your precious gem candles to give your special occasions a special glow. Consider a candlelight family dinner or a romantic anniversary surprise.
  • Gifts: A precious gem candle makes an excellent gift because of its uniqueness. Your friend or loved one will be excited by the prospect of having a hidden gem of value inside their candle.
  • Relaxation: Use your luxury candles to create a relaxing and calming atmosphere for yourself. Whether you are having a quiet moment after a long day from work, or soaking in a nurturing bath, the flicker of light in combination with the soothing scents will help you ease all tensions away.
  • Hobby: You could start a new hobby of gem collecting, adding to your collection with each new candle and gem discovery.

Precious gem candles are anything but traditional. They are a fun and exciting twist to the typical candle experience, but they are just as versatile as the common candle. Enjoy them!
