Fall is here! Fall is here! I love fall. It's one of the most beautiful seasons. The crisp air, the colors of the leaves changing, the pumpkins (and pumpkin spice everything), light sweaters, boots, and the promise of time with family gathered 'round a table of delicious homemade recipes from generations past. But on top of all that, I love scented candles that create the aroma of fall in every room. If you're looking for the perfect fall scented soy candle, then look no further! I've compiled a little list of Precious Gem Candles luxury soy candles that are perfect for Fall. A little extra bonus? National Creamsicle Day!

Posted on August 12, 2013 by Maria Harbert | 0 Comments

I cannot believe that it is already two weeks into August. This summer came and is quickly approaching an end. I hope that all of you have enjoyed your summer to it's fullest since time just seems to fly. If you live somewhere like me (Texas), water just doesn't always cut the high temps of 105º and a humidity percentage that closely matches that. I'm always looking for something refreshing and cold to enjoy. Creamsicles and popsicles are among the top favorites for a lot of people. Well, guess what? August 14th is National Creamsicle Day! (as if we needed another reason to go to our freezer and pull one out, this is a good excuse.) Below are some amazing recipes that I thought would be fun to post in celebration of this day. Not only that, but here at Precious Gem Candles, we sell an amazing smelling Orange Creme´ candle. Pick one up now and enjoy the delectable aroma while we still have some summer left.

Now I know your mouth is watering over the idea of a few great dreamsicle recipes, so here they are below. Enjoy!

This recipe is from a mommy blogger we found and, oh boy, does it sound delicious! Here are the ingredients you will need:

Orange Dreamsicle Poke Cake

1 box Pillsbury Orangsicle Cake Mix

1 small box instant vanilla pudding

2 Tbsp Sour cream

8 oz Cool Whip- unfrozen

1/2 cup Orange Juice

2 Tbsp sugar

1 tsp orange extract

orange food coloring

Click on the link below for the rest of the recipe and how to whip it up. Super easy!

Next recipe we have on the list was found on another blog as well at wineandglue.com. It's an Orange Dreamsicle Martini...yummm

Orange Dreamsicle Martini

  • 2 Oranges (plus additional slices for garnishing)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • UV Cake Vodka
  • Fat Free Half and Half
  1. Pour 1 cup of sugar in a medium sauce pan.  Zest one orange over the sugar.
  2. Juice the orange you just zested and an another into a one cup measure.  Fill it the rest of the way up with water, so you have one cup of liquid total.  Add it to the sauce pan with the zest and sugar.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring consistently so the sugar does not burn.  Once the the sugar has completely dissolved into the liquid, strain the mixture to get out the zest.  Place the Orange Simple Syrup in the refrigerator to cool completely.
  4. To make the martini, mix 1 1/2 parts UV Cake Vodka1 part Orange Simple Syrup, and 3/4 parts Fat Free Half and Half with ice and strain into a martini glass.  Garnish with an orange slice

Orange Dreamsicle Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 teaspoons orange zest (divided)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest (divided)
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange or lemon juice
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 4 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Continue to the site below for the rest of the recipe "how to".

And for all my health nuts out there, this is from a website called kimkins.com. They are an online weight loss program, and this shake looked too delicious not to post. This recipe was submitted by one of their members.

Dreamsicle Protein Shake

1 scoop protein (You can use any protein you like. I recommend brown rice protein like Garden of Life Raw Vanilla protein--it's one of the best because it doesn't have unnecessary additives. Here's the link to read more about it http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products-for-Life/Foundational-Nutrition/RAW-Protein.aspx)
4 tablespoons frozen Cool Whip
12 oz can Sierra Mist
1 tube Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange
5 ice cubes (more if needed)

You will need a blender.  Start by adding the can of Sierra Mist first. You can add all other ingredients on top of this and it prevents the dry ingredients from sticking to the sides of the blender.  Blend on HIGH until smooth and drink!
