Congratulations! You have found a Pink Topaz gemstone! Topaz has become the 2nd most popular colored gemstone (sapphire is consistently number one).
This is not surprising since Topaz is a very refractive stone and harder than many other gemstones, with a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale. It has no special sensitivity to chemicals and can be used with any jewelry application.
A new high tech enhancement process applied to colorless stones has created this new variety known as Pink Topaz. It displays a stunning pink color that makes it unique, fashionable and different.
The name topaz is probably derived from an island in the Red Sea, “Topazos”, today called Zabargad, and is also the ancient source of peridot.
Topaz is the birthstone for the month of November.
